All these (American) thruhiking blogs and magazines, it’s like this fascist take over of their country doesn’t exist. Just business as usual, money needs to be made. Disgusting. You’d think we’re a woke(!!!) community, that is there for each other, but no. Of course not. All that chitchat about inclusion and anti-racism, just hot air. Not worth a penny.

The enormity of what I’m about to do feels so daunting. The anxiety of the unknown mixes with the excitement of adventure, and it’s hard not to start spiraling.

Maybe it’s biting off way more than I can chew, but I feel driven to at least take this journey as far as I can.

I hit the trailhead tomorrow.

Been filling up an old gas cannister with gas from half empty ones and making sure weight compares well with a newly bought full one. The FlipFuel really does an excellent job at recycling gas and it is easy to accomplish.

It’s an A. It’s a T. It’s a tree. It’s the symbol of the Appalachian Trail! Designed by Major William Welch in the early 1920s, and one of my personal favorites. It was incorporated into the official AT Insignia (as seen on the hang-tags of thru-hikers) by the US Department of the Interior in 1970.
