_The Evening Post_, 14 November 1924:
RESCUED FROM DROWNING
But for the prompt action of Messrs. Kershaw, Morgan, and Searle, members of the staff of the Hutt River Board, the Hutt River yesterday would have claimed another victim. Arthur #Page, a boy of 13 years of age, who resides with his parents in the #Taita Gorge, went bathing in the river yesterday along with his brother, and against his father’s instructions. He was soon in difficulty through getting beyond his depth in a hole scoured out by the recent floods. Fortunately, the men who were working in the vicinity heard the cries of his brother, and also fortunately they possessed a boat in which they went to the boy’s assistance. By this time the boy had sunk. When the boy was secured he was unconscious. Artificial respiration was applied, and after a time the boy recovered and was taken to his home.
