ly, a TTY display manager for Linux / BSD just updated to include a new background animation, and it looks sick!
Great news for BashCore users! #gpm works perfectly in TTY, allowing easy text selection and pasting using the mouse. Just install it with:
sudo apt install gpm -y && sudo systemctl enable --now gpm
Then: Select text with the left mouse button
Paste it with the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) or Shift + Insert
Works across different TTYs!

That's just what I needed. I did a system update, restarted my PC and can no longer log in. It works directly on #tty, but if I try to edit a file with #vim or #nano, the programs apparently don't exist.
What the hell could be responsible for this? What has such power to cause such damage? I'm annoyed
Bin genervt

Supports majority of the terminals.
On my new PC the #Linux #TTY doesn't support the ▄ and ▀ #Unicode block characters. It only renders as replacement diamonds. My old #Fedora machine did support those, my new machine is #TuxedoOS (based on #Kubuntu). Anyone having any idea how to get those characters supported? Also is is possible to get more colors supported on the TTY?
I've tried the Fixed and Termius fonts via `dpkg-reconfigure console-setup`, will try Goha next. Sucks that I have to reboot for that change.

Finally pulled the trigger on a purchase I've been umming and aahing about for maybe the last year. I now have a pair of Teli Contact portable acoustic-coupler Telex transmitters on the way, with the matching printers.
I think these are cool not just because they're handheld Telex TTYs, but also because they had crypto onboard... initially DES, but later on a backdoored NSA-supplied algorithm: https://www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/philips/px1000/

#RaspberryPi users, I need help! After updating my kernel to version 6.6.67-v8-16k+ and rebooting, my MATE desktop environment won’t start. All I get is a blank screen, and Espeakup keeps repeating "black square black square black square." I can SSH into the system, so it’s partially functional. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
• Rebooting the Raspberry Pi.
• Checking journalctl logs for errors (I have a full log if needed).
• Reinstalling the kernel with sudo apt install --reinstall raspberrypi-kernel.
• Ensuring my /boot/config.txt is configured correctly.
Some relevant observations from the logs:
• The desktop environment (MATE) and LightDM don’t seem to start.
• The error vc4-drm axi:gpu: [drm] Cannot find any crtc or sizes appears multiple times in the kernel logs, suggesting a GPU/display issue.
• Services like rpi-connect-wayvnc.service are failing repeatedly.
• Espeakup works in TTY mode, but no graphical interface is available.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to diagnose or fix this without reinstalling Raspberry Pi OS? Could this be related to the kernel update? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!#Linux #Kernel #RaspberryPiOS #MATE #Accessibility #TTY #SSH #Debugging #LinuxHelp #Tech #Technology

Stick that damn prompt at the bottom, middle or third quarter of your terminal!
This secret ninja technique prevents you from dropping an eyeball going back and forth to the top left corner of your screen everytime you open a new terminal.
