Orange Door

Recently I was on a class trip out to Locke California on the Sacramento River Delta. The goal was to emulate a couple of old time photographers, William Quisenberry and Walker Evans. Quisenberry emulated Walker Evans for many years and the style was to shoot very one dimensional paying more attention to detail and textures.
I found this building a few miles down the road.

Orange Door This is an image that I shot in the process of trying to emulate a couple of classic photographers, William Quisenberry and Walker Evans. Both are known to shoot images that are pretty much two dimensional without much depth. This is the back of an old building found out in the Sacramento River Delta in the town of Locke. The siding on the building is all corrugated steel, some of the pieces are showing different levels of rust giving it a very industrial look. There are some odds and ends on the ground like a hose and an old planter along with various other items. What caught my eye on this image is the reddish/orange door in the lower left hand corner.

Orange Door This is the backside of a building in Walnut Grove, California. I was intrigued by the colorful orange door in a what is a very drab old building. The pipes running down the side of the building, the tin walls, the weathered trim around the windows, all show signs of an old building that needs maintenance but the door looks fairly new.
