Also in #30DaysOfBiking I read a really good book about Britain's National Cycle Network.
_Potholes and Pavements_ by Laura Laker is a travelogue about her journeys around Britain by bike, but she also meets the people who built the network. It’s a history of the NCN, a love letter to it, and a long list of complaints (that I think all users share). It’s also full of hope for the future, and I want to keep quoting bits of it at people.
The conclusion to April's #30DaysOfBiking
Day 28, just an evening amble about on my bike.
Day 29, regular trip out to play board games.
Day 30, a trip to the supermarket where I overloaded my shopping bags causing one of them to bend its clips which meant it popped off the rack into the road at the slightest bump and a spilt bag of liquorice allsorts were abandoned in the carriageway
Frustrating and a bad note to end the month on really.
(Summary to follow.)
Day 30 #30DaysofBiking
I finished off the month with a commute to work, but also swinging by Steamship Games to pick up sleeves for my MTG cards. I've had some of these cards for 17 years, better late than never I suppose!
The folks at Steamship seem pretty cool, and the owner supports the Livable Lyndale campaign!
I've only managed maybe 15 or so of #30daysOfBiking this year but I bet I swept more miles of bike lanes than the other "contestants".
50min 6.6mi +490ft on #BikeLaneSweeper today
total of 78miles +5758ft swept in April #pdxBikes #BikeTooter
Day thirty: Decent evening ride to finish out the thirty days, although I don't think there was ever a really warm day for riding this April. Kind of surprised to see the deer so far out in the open so early in the evening, it was still pretty much still full daylight.
#30DaysOfBiking Day 30:
I am training for a trip to ride the entire Mickelson Trail in South Dakota in a few weeks, so for today's ride, I tried to emulate that ride as best I could locally. I hauled my gravel bike to La Crosse Wisconsin and rode the La Crosse River and Elroy-Sparta State Trails for 60 miles. The tunnels on the Elroy-Sparta are still closed for the season, so I just rode to the entrance of Tunnel 3. It turned out to be a nicer day than the forecast; that was nice.

Jour 30.
Celebrated day 30 of #30DaysOfBiking with a morning greenway ride! Suddenly this week, we’re in the “bike in the morning before it gets too hot” season & fortunately my schedule cooperated. Beautiful morning. #BikeTooter
Day twenty-nine: calm, cool night ride with clear skies, with a sliver of moon as the only light besides the bicycle lights. There are absolutely no street lights where I live and houses are far apart and set far back from the street, so when it's dark it is really dark.
#30DaysOfBiking Day 29:
It was cloudy, cool and windy this morning, so I waited for the sun after lunch and was rewarded with a pleasant spring ride. I rode my road bike on the Douglas Trail to Pine Island and back for 45 miles. The ephemeral woodland wildflowers were all in bloom: Marsh Marigold, White Trout Lily, False Rue Anemone, Bloodroot and Virginia Spring Beauty. The American Plum trees are now blossoming and the crabapples will be very soon.

Day 29 #30DaysofBiking
I took my Brompton to the Northstar train today to go up to Anoka! The state legislature is trying really hard to kill the train and "replace" it with bus service, so I'm on my way to an open house event to tell them that it's a terrible idea.
Jour 29.
Some days you have a lovely ride and other days, you go over a bump, your chain pops off the gears, and even when you get it back on, something has gone wonky with your gears. Looks like a bike shop stop is coming up to puzzle this one out. #30DaysOfBiking #BikeTooter
