Day 23 #30DaysofBiking
Just commuted to and from work. Had to make sure to grab my rain gear in the afternoon, day 24 looks like it will be soggy!
Day 23 #30DaysofBiking
Just commuted to and from work. Had to make sure to grab my rain gear in the afternoon, day 24 looks like it will be soggy!
Day twenty-three: Another nice day but I couldn't get on the bike until dusk, so too short of a ride yet again.
#30daysofbiking Day 23:
I had a break in the afternoon from grampa daycare duty, so I took my Brompton bike out and rode the Leland Greenway and the Lakefront Trail for 18 miles. There were a couple of detours on the North end of the trail, and I got turned the wrong direction, but quickly recovered. I only wish more of the rideshare bike riders would alert me when they pass me. I had one close call when avoiding an obstacle without knowing I was being passed at the time.

I could potentially go for a #30DaysOfBiking ride when I get home tonight, but I’ve been enjoying the bike share in Pittsburgh and the weather is really nice this morning. Plus getting outside before a day of meetings is really helpful. As soon as I got on the river trail, I ran into some rowers so I biked alongside & pretended their hype team was cheering me on. #BikeTooter
Day twenty-two: Warm weather! I was hoping to get a nice long ride in this evening before sunset, because temperatures were almost summer-like. Alas, I didn't get home earlier enough and ended up doing a brief night ride. The clouds above were interesting, although not stormy.
Day 22 #30DaysofBiking
I went in-person to one of the schools I serve to get my Cybersecurity students signed up for the certification test they'll take at the end of the school year.
Jour 22.
Day 22 of #30DaysOfBiking, a little explore using a Pittsburgh bike share. I find exploring a new city on my own to be intimidating, but doing it by bike is pretty great. #BikeTooter
#30DaysOfBiking Day 22:
Due to schedule, I got out at dawn to get a quick ride in. It had rained earlier, so a bike with fenders was in order. It is still cloudy, cool and windy. A lot of people walk their dogs just before sunrise, so caution on the trails was needed. I rode the West section of the new Chester Woods Trail and the whole ride was 11 miles.

Day 19 of #30DaysOfBiking
Ride to Kidical Mass
Lots of kids riding
Chicken and waffles, churros and Italian ice
9th street bikeway popup
Day twenty-one: Much nicer day for riding with clear skies, warmer temperature and no noticeable wind. Surprising audience of deer when I started out on my ride, didn't like disturbing them to get by.
#30DaysOfBiking Day 21: It was cloudy, cool and windy again, so I decided to just ride the #RochMN city trails for 27 miles. I did choose to head down the Zumbro River South Trail in case any of the wildflowers were blooming, and a handful of Virginia Bluebells and False Run Anemone had just started to bloom. I also spotted a Great Blue Heron under the S. Broadway bridge. All the creeks and the river are high after yesterday's ample rain. (1.5" 4cm at my house.)

Just a quick mile loop in downtown Pittsburgh today for #30DaysOfBiking.Hoping to get out tomorrow morning before my meeting starts for a longer ride (and also hoping that it won’t be raining like it is now, and also that my shoes dry!). #BikeTooter
Today’s #30DaysOfBiking was the 2 mile ride to the pet shop to pick up cat food, followed by the 10 mile ride home. It occurred to me that if I’d done that by car it would have been frustrating and stressful because it would probably have been caused by diversions or navigation errors. Whereas on a bike it was just because I had nowhere else to be and could meander and enjoy riding.
Day 18 of #30DaysOfBiking
Cloudy morning
Bike maintenance evening - Uh oh
New BB
(New wheel on order)
Day 17 of #30DaysOfBiking
Trying out a different bike
Seeing a friend on the way to school
Riding home after a long day
Day 16 of #30DaysOfBiking
Friends riding to school together. It’s the best
Day twenty: Cold and rain, getting repetitive. Not worth riding, so it was barely an effort.
So the last couple of #30DaysOfBiking have been a washout.
Day 19 was always going to be a no bike day as it involved an all day board game meet up too far away to bike.
Day 20 would have involved biking if my flat tire from day 15 hadn’t reappeared. Mastodon was a help with figuring out how to temp fix the hole in the rim tape. I absent mindedly stuck my fingernail too close to a moving bike wheel to rip off my nail, world’s stupidest bike injury probs!
For day 20 of #30DaysOfBiking, the teen and I took a picnic across the river to Shelby Bottoms and then spent a couple of hours reading and playing Next Station: Tokyo. My bike equipped with the Tern Transporteur rack is pretty perfect for carrying our picnic basket - I’m not a fan of this rack for daily use but for specific cases, it’s perfect. #food #BikeTooter
