I mean if it was an #veganly acceptable thing to do to eat the #scoby, then I could see me setting up some very large #glass #keg contraption with flowing #peristatic pump just to turbo grow #scobies. LOL. Like growing alternative #meat at home without having to kill a poor innocent animal..... millions of tiny 1 cell ones technically.
So I was just getting started with #kombucha yesterday and today, two different 1gal batches. I was wondering what to do with the mother #scoby later when it started to be weaker. Well I learned that you can actually make it into a sort of #bacon. You can also #eat it in all sorts of ways. It's #gummy when fresh and #tasty and #sweet. So there's a bunch of ways to eat it for us non meat eaters. The stuff is basically #protein from what I understand. Would this be #vegan? It's a living organism..
I recently heard Stuff you should know's podcast episode about #kombucha (https://stuffyoushouldknow.com/episodes/?_search=kombucha) and thought this sounds like a drink I would enjoy. A bit of research and all of a sudden I owned a #scoby and a couple of flip-top bottles Just enjoying the first attempt after a second #fermentation with oranges and cinnamon. What a nice fizzy drink this is
If anyone has recommendations or sources for other recipes to try, please post them below.

I had some leftover starter stored in the fridge and it turns out that has also sprung a #scoby???? like, how?
it was on top shelf so probably closer to 8-10C but??.?
@amarettolatte
That's huge! Kudos to your daughter. If you're referring to the liquid left after she grew that magnificent #scoby, it might be technically called kombucha. However, the stuff is so vinegary no one likes it. Drinkable #kombucha brews in just a few days.
