For today's #WeirdCarMastodon #NameThatCar challenge we have something a little bit older than the TVR which was last vehicle. It's big, it's black but can you name it from this unusual view of the wing?

The rear light cluster of a period American car. The lights are arranged as three individual lamps each with a chrome surround. The lamps are very pointy. There is a big chrome bumper below the lights and thick chrome strip around the rear panel. A little piece of bodywork is visible it is mainly marine blue with a white stripe. There are chrome strips either side of the white stripe. The car appears to have a boot/trunk.

Can you name it from this image? I should say I don't belive these were sold in North America but versions of it were offered in a number of established global markets and famously this car did get to other parts of the Americas.

The answer the outstanding #NameThatCar challenge was this attractive Jaguar XJS Convertible from sunny California. Thanks to @Holberg for the picture.
Following the E-Type was always going to be tough and XJ-S didn't get the warmest of welcome. However it stuck around and was well liked if out dated by the time it was eventually retired.

So the answer to the outstanding #NameThatCar challenge was, as many figured out a product of the Rootes Group . A firm who were early and enthusiastic adopters of Badge-engineering!
In this particular case the badge was Singer, there mid-range offering.
The car is question a Singer Gazelle in period grey wirh a fetching stripe!

As many of you #WeirdCarMastodon folks correctly identified it was a Buick Special. Those portholes in the wing were very distinctive!
The only question was whuch model.
Helpfully the owner had provided an informative label.
Buick Special Model 48 264 cui Fireball V8.

That the answer to yesterdays #NameThatCar challenge was, as a good number of you clever #WeirdCarMastodon folks worked out a late 60's Sunbeam Apline. The film connection is that an earlier Sunbeam Alpine was the first film "Bond Car" appearing in Dr No. More here: hotcars.com/the-real-story-beh. I believe the E-Type was never an official Bond Car.
