“We don’t want Morris to take over our lives. One event a month, two in high season, is plenty” we said.
Somehow we have over twenty events in the next six months, and seem to still be feeling keen and saying “yes” to anything that doesn’t clash!
Maybe we *do* want Morris to take over our lives - actions speak louder than words.

Looks like we have pinned down our location for the 2025 American Travelling Morrice. We'll be performing from July 27 to August 2 in central New York, mostly in the area around Syracuse and the northeastern Finger Lakes. Not that we have any dance stands decided yet; there's lots of work ahead!

The American Travelling Morrice's Winter Meating [sic] happened Saturday. No particularly notable developments, at least none for public consumption, but we did report progress for this year's tour — there is some! — and _probably_ we're doing southern Vermont in 2026 and _maybe_ Bristol County, MA in 2027.

The Straw Bear dance is an old local tradition, revived in its modern form in 1980, and is now the focus for a large festival of Morris dancing, with around 30 troupes performing

Here's a sort of reintroduction post showing some recent-ish work.

I chose these examples because I don't think they need CWs, whereas some of my other work would, but the first image does have alcohol in it (hence the blur)

We're just a little over three months out from the 47th Gilbertsville morris tour! The Binghamton Morris Men will be dancing in Otsego County, NY on the weekend of April 26 with guests from New York, Boston, and Toronto. And guess which poor bastard's been put in charge of organizing it?

And the splendid brewery tasting room where we've danced and drunk since 2018 has gone and closed. So guess which poor bastard needs to find another place?

These folk dancers in Mexico City remind me of Morris dancers. For those who don't know, Morris dancing is a vibrant English folk dance characterized by rhythmic stepping and choreographed moves, performed by dancers clad in costumes adorned with bell pads.

After a career in #science the last thing I expected to be doing was setting up a Maypole from scratch.

I have no training for this.

Have just found a local supplier who has oak effect aluminium poles VERY cheap. S length of 4 metres seems right, but what do I know?

Now to figure out the top...
I have found out that the optimal number of ribbons is multiples of four, but length?
Does it rotate or is it static?

Perhaps some one in #MorrisDance #MorrisDancer #morrisdancing might know ...
