People say grass tufts aren’t in scale for 6mm scale minis. As grass? No. As bushes, though…

Also, you wouldn’t believe how high the grasses were in parts of the military area I did basic training in. You can totally hide in grass by crouching low. Don’t even get me started on alien ecologies in #BattleTech.

The ‘Mech Painters Union

For about a year, I’ve been part of a group of BattleTech fans bouncing around the idea of a dedicated painting site for the game. Camo Specs Online does a good job showing off high quality paint schemes, but we thought it would be neat to have an alternative. We wanted to be more accessible by showcasing paint jobs by a wider skill range, and to put more effort into helping others replicate the posted minis.

A few months ago, we started putting the pieces together and preparing to launch, and yesterday we publicly announced the ‘Mech Painters Union. The site has a gallery of miniatures which have artist notes and tags for color, faction, miniature type, and more. Anyone can submit their miniatures through a form on the site. Then we also have a new Discord server spun up for community discussions around BattleTech painting and modeling.

If you enjoy painting BattleTech miniatures, please consider joining the MPU:

The mercs "Rick Rollers" (Nova, Archer) attempts to escort a convoy (4x Burro II, 3x Galleon) while a rival merc group (Manticore, Rommel, Falcon Hover, SRM Carrier) tries to destroy it as I attempt to make sense of the AS darkness rules. With 15-20 barricade tokens evenly distributed across both badlands maps the lions struggle to find a firing angle while the archer rains indirect fire onto the srm carrier. But then in a display of overaggressiveness the falcon charges the nova which overheats itself to do a single point of damage! Things take a dramatic turn when the srm car endures attacks from the archer, all three galleons, and both battlefield support cards with a single structure bubble remaining

At turn 5 the tracked tanks are finally able to push past the barricades and the rough badlands #2 terrain to reach the rick rollers. The srm car tries to retreat, but the archer picks up one of the barricades and throws it at the vehicle, destroying it! The Falcon loses its propulsion against the galleons while the nova proves its inability to hit targets while nova-ing.

In the end opfor was completely destroyed. They tried to retreat but their retreat path was also the convoy's path

We played a fun game of #BattleTech in our first succession war campaign today. After punching a Panther right in the cockpit and killing the veteran pilot, the freedom fighters of Hand Vreiheid had no issues in grabbing and running with lots of nuclear weapon components. This defeat was a big hit to the merc’s reputation and their strategic situation for their garrison contract.

And upon seeing the vicious space monsters in the gothic box set the clans all changed their names to match these new apex predators of the stars! But then the snow ravens brought flying beastrider infantry to the battlefield
This gothic box set is very problematic from a lore perspective almost any other crossover would be better

hrm
The Marian Hegemony thinks that the galaxy is a grimdark place in constant need of peace by death. They also have an irrational fear of xenofauna and this paranoia results in their mechs taking combat damage from encounters with random wildlife

Well, I found a tiny bit of time after all. Some medium fleshtone drybrushing for the Falcon bases, a thinned down cold grey on the Horse based, followed by some even thinner and lighter stonewall grey.

I guess there's some touchups to be done when we come back from the short trip, and then photos and a new project! Yay!

It's such a wierd thing to put the SRCH on the vehicle cards but to hide the mechs in darkness rule deep within the expanded rulebook
These [srch] units may turn their lights on or off during the End Phase of any turn, illuminating all terrain and units within a 2” radius around the light-bearing unit (including the light-bearing unit itself) - as:ce pg 62
That's not a searclight, that's a floodlight, or a bedside lamp
"Units equipped with a searchlight ignore the Target Number
modifiers for combat in darkness" - as:ce pg 90
great commander edition contradicts itself. It's just as baffling as the skidding rules
I like TacOps's ruleset for searchlights where you just shine them at a hex. It's ironically simpler then the as rules
okay im a kid playing battletech i see the galleons have srch on the card but my mechs do not so i look up srch on page 90. Slightly confused but satisfied with this explanation I check the tables on pg 58 and then start playing never finding out what is written on pg 62
"These units may turn their light on or off during the end phase..." Does the "these units" refer to just the cvs or both the tanks and the mechs
Did CGL playtest this at all
