Probably interesting for some #Windows users - during my break here, I also switched to #Linux on my main/every day laptop. I'm everything but a computer expert, but things work absolutely flawless.
Old laptop -> Linux Mint
New laptop -> Pop OS

For the gamers among you: #Civ6 wouldn't run on my laptop on Windows as the OS consumed too many resources, but does so on Linux.

@torproject @ZDNet TBH, I'd always recommend people to use @tails / @tails_live / #Tails if they want a secure and private OS.

  • Shure in theory one could do more #secure with #OpenBSD, but that's neither easy to use for non-#IT-folks nor easy to onboard people into.

Tails by contrast just comes with #TorBrowser, @thunderbird and other nifty tools preconfigured from the get go and allows people to get started, regardless if it's a #journalist or someones' grandma who may not have her own dedicaded machine but instead uses an external SSD/HDD to just boot into her desktop and not rely on the #malware-laced #Internetcafé's #Windows installation...

Not to mention it avoids a lot of #pitfalls that other distros like @kalilinux will deliberaltely keep open because their goals are diametral to that.

@lina From time to time I feel the need to start my Windows partition, because I want to test something for work.
Switch on - update, do not switch off - sign up to one cloud, please would you? - Fucking MS Windows Clickbait opens (WTF!) - Security Problem, buy a virus scanner - unused desktop items - you did still not sign up to one cloud - there's a new update, restart now? - shutdown without installing updates - drink tea for mental health.
I love linux

If you bought an Android phone and used Android for years, and tomorrow you bought an iPhone, you would need to learn how iPhone works.

There would be some similarities and at the end of the day, it would still be a phone, but you would need to learn a little.

The same thing is true with your computer. If you have used Windows for years, and one day you decided to try Apple macOS or Linux, you would need to lean how it works, and at the end of the day, it would still be a computer.
