🧵 8/9 The 'Goal': Dissemination of IPCC Reports and #climatechange lit using #semantification as a basis. #ClimateKG is aimed at being a service for indexing and publishing. Status: Prototype (PoC) #1: 'IPCC Reports and City Climate Change Plans: Proof of concept prototype - Open Climate Reader' semanticclimate.github.io/city - Currently interfaces are for search and #RAG #LLM - all built on #openscience based #digitalsoveriegn tech. This summer semester I'm very excited to teach a brand-new seminar on "Open Science practices in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition" @UniKoeln! ☀️

Some 20 B.A. and M.A. students studying #linguistics or a Romance language (+ one post-doc) signed up for this rather experimental course, many of whom had never heard of #OpenScience before. For this course, I've ditched the University's learning management system (ILIAS) and opted for a maximally open way to share teaching materials as I go along: elenlefoll.quarto.pub/os-lingu. :cc:

Students are also required to attend at least two #ReproducibiliTea in the #HumaniTeas session and to co-author a blog post about one session. Very curious to see how things will pan out! 🤓

What will most transform #ScholComm in the next 10 years? A new survey of 90 #ECRs from 7 countries gives first place to #AI, followed closely by #OpenAccess and #OpenScience, followed by changes to #PeerReview.

While respondents thought AI would trigger more change than OA and OS, they were split on whether those changes would be good or bad. They were more united on the benefits of OA and OS.

I like this summary of the views of the Spanish respondents: "They believe that the much heralded new open and collaborative system is only possible if the evaluation of researchers changes and considers more than citations and includes altmetrics, publication in open platforms, repositories and so on."

Super excited that it's #OSR25CH (Open Science Retreat 2025) week!

Watching the introductory presentations and feeling so many exciting ideas fill my brain! Can't wait to get involved in some cool projects this week!

Very cool to hear from a few of the associated organisations!

Last year at the Open Science Retreat (#OSR24NL) I have been introduced to nanopubs by @egonw and created my first nanopub declaring citations for a paper using CiTOs (citation ontologies).

Now, travelling to #OSR25CH, due to issues with the train network foreseen with plenty of time, I use the opportunity and created a new one ( w3id.org/np/RAicq7k9QHX8EG8ho7 ) for my latest publication on teaching #Snakemake on #HPC systems.

The teaching material is — again — in desperate need of additions and overhaul, but that is for another day.
