FFS So Abbott’s Libre 3 app, for continuous glucose monitoring, allows itself to be installed on a variety of devices and iOS versions. But should you have issues with it they point you at a doc saying it’s not supported on all devices and OS versions. So be on an insecure OS release (18.0!) or we don’t support you. FAIL

When might they get around to upgrading and fixing their app? No ETA. Critical alerts, DENIED!

My first #ContinuousGlucoseMonitor failed yesterday, only 1/2-way through its lifespan. 🙀 It was an over-the-counter model (#Lingo by Abbott). They immediately sent a replacement.

But because it took 24 hrs to arrive, it gave me a chance to try the #FreeStyleLibre3 (also #Abbott but by Rx) earlier than planned.

Similar info but presented in a different interface. Still very useful and a great tool but took some getting used to. Change is challenging for me due to #Autism

I do not meet with the endocrinologist till January so I don’t really know what I’m doing. But so far I’ve used the CGMs to change & fine-tune my diet to avoid erratic lows & spikes. Also using to gather data for the January appointment.

It’s going quite well, I think, and I generally feel less fatigued and hungry. It will be interesting to discuss this with my cardiologist next week since he’s the one who prescribed it after I asked him if he could.

This has really open my eyes to how certain foods I normally ate caused considerable glucose spikes.

I initially wanted it to monitor for and prevent hypoglycemic episodes but I discovered that those are often linked to spikes, though not always.

I wish I’d had this a long time ago though it probably didn’t exist yet 😂

Replied to bedast

@bedast I feel your pain. Getting the #FreeStyleLibre3 has been an eye-opening experience. Amazing what having more than 2-3 data points a day does to decision making.

I'm fighting some self-inflicted GI nonsense, but I'm still up to a 7 day avg TIR of 96% using the default Freestyle settings.

It's a process. My Mounjaro dose goes up in 10 days. Hoping for minimal side effects. At least now I am past the holiday self-destruction diet.

I switched from a manual glucometer to the #FreeStyleLibre3 CGM the Friday before Christmas.

It's generally been a gamechanger for me from a #diabetes compliance and management standpoint. I do wish it had customisable alarms though.

From an information security perspective, I expected better. It's storing pseudo PHI and has no multifactor authentication in the mobile or web application.

New sensor day, and so far day 1 is annoying junk. It didn’t bleed or anything. It’s occasionally giving valid readings, but is otherwise mostly reading low, all the way down to urgent low alerting.

Going to give it a day to settle. Unless it keeps alarming with fake urgent lows.

And yeah, verified with finger sticks.

What really sucks is this will skew my trends.
