#WordWeavers February 1
*blinks hectically with all twelve eyes*
"An introduction? Me? But I am only the nurse."
*rubs with one tentactle over their head and turns slightly more lilac*
"Ubbuluh... I'm Blaas Oounda, and as I said I am the nurse of the #HeraldPetrel. I also have to fill in for the doctor because she... Sorry, I can't reveal medical data to you. I am from Blunkaria, and I am a Blunkarian, this is how the most prominent sentient species on my homeworld is called."
*lets ten eyes wander back to their patients and only keeps looking at you with two*
"Being a nurse is a very traditional career path for people like me. We are good at jobs that require much attention to detail and being observant. Because of our two heads we can do a lot of things at the same time. I know that a lot of humanoid species are confused how our six extremities work and they call them 'tentacles' because they don't have a different concept for them. But we can do everything with them where humanoids would have to use their hands or feet."
*wiggles all six tentacles with confusingly many fingelike smaller tentacles*
"As I said. Humanoids are not really comfortable with us but they like that we work for them. They are very strange, humanoids. They seem to be so limited. I have no idea--" stops as if they already said too much. "I am sorry, I have to care for my patients now."
*wanders off quickly, using four tentactles as feet*
@strangeseawolf This sounds interesting!
@Fragglemuppet Oh, yes, I love them very much. In the first book they only had a small supporting role (although not by all means an unimportant one!) which will probably stay the same in the second book. But I do intend to give them more screen time later. They definitely deserve it!
@strangeseawolf Is there any way I can read it?
@Fragglemuppet There is, you will find the first book in all bookstores. Here is a link that lists them all:
https://books2read.com/HeraldPetrel
Or if you tell me where you usually order from I can give you the direct link to it.
@strangeseawolf Hmmm, I like Audible, but now I think of it that's a whole other issue.
@Fragglemuppet Ah, yeah, I get it. I mean, there are e-readers that read out loud but I know that a lot of people don't like the voices. The good news is I am working on an audiobook for the first book right now with a voice actress I know but it will take some time until it is out. We are just on chapter 3 for now. It is a long process.
@strangeseawolf You also may want to look into bookshare.org or the NLS, but I'm not sure what the process is for authors there.
@Fragglemuppet Oooh, that looks interesting. Thank you for sharing!
@Fragglemuppet Oh, yes, they do have an option to partner with authors so it does seem like a way to go. It will of course decrease the possibilities to sell the audiobook but I am considering since they will provide it in braille and other helpful formats other than audio as well and, yeah, as I said, passion project so the sales are not really the dominating factor for me, rather letting people read it.
@strangeseawolf Sorry, I hadn't considered that. I still prefer professional audio though, so you've at least got 1 customer already! And of course I'll share it whenever I see it.
@Fragglemuppet Yeah, and, you know, they also provide it in braille, highlighted text, bigger text, stuff like that. There are people who can't do audio for other reasons. I think I will do it and let you know when it will be available. Also shared this with some of my author friends because I do think it is pretty awesome!
@strangeseawolf That's great! Spreading the word about accessibility is always a good thing, so thanks for that!
@Fragglemuppet My pleasure. All people should be able to find and enjoy as many books as possible!
