We spotted two beetle-looking insects on the trail at the Fells’ forest.

Here’s the insect no1: Prionus laticollis, also known as the broad-necked root borer (wiki)

… and I thought it was a beetle. 😄

A black beetle-looking insect on the forest floor. It has a faded orange on the rear edges and the tip of the pointy rear end. It was sitting right in front of a hole which looked like it crawled out this evening.

Another black beetle-looking insect on the rock by the trail of Middlesex Fells’ forest. About the same size as the insect no1 of this evening—about 4~4.5cm. It’s kind of cute.
