Well, no excuses anymore for the grade e economist Hunt - now he can fund the pay rise, and reduce pollution at the same time at no cost and with no danger of hitting inflation. The IFS said it disputed the Treasury’s figures, arguing the cost of an increase from the current 3.5% average offer to 5.5% could be even less than £5bn. It said between 30% and 40% of the pay rise would be clawed back in higher VAT, tax ..the cost down to £3bn.
