How did you learn to type?

@RamenCatholic
In grade 10 math, I could roaming-peck 135wpm. My teacher could only homerow 85wpm so he sent me to the office for lying about my speed before he actually tested me, because my poor technique made my results obviously impossible.

@RamenCatholic All The Write Type (so many phrases about gelled salads)

@RamenCatholic Typer Shark for basics, Runescape marketplace for speed lmao

@RamenCatholic I still remember the smell of typewriter ribbons!

@RamenCatholic I learned on a lime-green Hermes 3000 manual which had been my dad's. Typed all my school papers on it. I still remember my sense of awe when I went to work in an office that provided me with an IBM Selectric, with the most easy-touch electric keyboard, the changeable font typeball, and a self-correcting ribbon! The future of typing had arrived!

@RamenCatholic there was a typing tutorial game on my dad's PC that started with tiny little lasers dropping on 2 letters at a time and you had to hit the key to fire back. It increased speed and number of keys as you went along.

@JillsJoy I remember that! But I can't remember what it was called.
@RamenCatholic

@RamenCatholic old typing manual Mum's had since the '50s and an Apple ][e.

@RamenCatholic The median age must be pretty high here. Growing up in the 80s and 90s I barely saw manual (or electric) typewriters and can't imagine that most others my age would have learned to type on them.
