Teach Honest History

Time for another one of my bird takeoff sequence photos. This time it's a white-breasted nuthatch. Chantilly, Virginia, USA 26NOV2024.

This photo shows a white breasted nuthatch taking off from a bird feeder. The bird is shown in 4 positions superimposed on one image. At bottom right the bird is perched on the rim of the hanging feeder but looking to the left. Then it is shown in flight slightly higher and to the left with its wings up at about 45 degrees. Next it is shown further to the left and slightly higher but with its wings almost fully downswept. Last it is shown in the upper left of the photo with its wings in the fully upward position. The bird is a bluish gray overall with a white breast and belly and some touches of beige and brown toward the rear.
