⚜️ In the 1950s, an R&B group known as The Hawkettes, was playing calypso-rumba style music influenced by Professor Longhair. A member of the group was a 16-year-old Art Neville. Art would go on to be a co-founder of The Meters and The Neville Brothers. That's a powerful Black history through-line in New Orleans music.
