I thought maybe the tension with the USA might provide an opening for rapprochement with China out of necessity, but this certainly sends the opposite signal.

Trading one murderous midwit wannabe dictator's regime for an actual murderous dictator's regime isn't really a great set of goalposts for Canada if you ask me.

We can continue to trade with China without getting "closer" to them, and we can continue to condemn their human rights abuses in Canada and abroad.
