Ed Chivers<p>The Maelstrom setting is from the 2023 <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/shiftrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>shiftrpg</span></a> quickstart guide and has four character types</p><p>- The Beacon, the keepers of the light that keep the darkness and the deep at bay<br>- The Siren, charismatic talkers and influencers <br>- The Gale, who can wield the power of storms<br>- The Rudder, eerie navigators with uncanny senses of direction and abilities to find things</p><p>I'm playing Isidore Barbeau, a Rudder based out of the setting's starting town of Tide's Bane.</p>

I've been playing in <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/@delanthear" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>delanthear</span></a></span>'s <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/shiftrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>shiftrpg</span></a> game, set in the Maelstrom setting where the sun has gone from the sky and the sea is rising up to claim the land. It's a spooky late 19th/early 20th century vibe with populations hanging on to scraps of land while terrors from the deep assail them on every side.</p><p>(despite this, it's fun)</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a></p>
Ed Chivers<p>I have somehow roleplayed - as a character! - three times in the last three days.</p><p>This never happens...</p><p>I have some things to talk about regarding my cleric Song in Icewind Dale, and my "Rudder" Isidore Barbeau in the Shift Maelstrom setting, once I get my thoughts in order. It's been a real tale of highs and lows today with some spectacular successes and hilarious cock-ups.
