Good luck with the lime batches experiments. <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/StrawBaleHouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StrawBaleHouse</span></a>,</p>

The straw bale construction isn’t windy weatherproof. However as you share, the bales are ready to reuse. <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/StrawBaleHouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StrawBaleHouse</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/rewilding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rewilding</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/naturalconstruction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturalconstruction</span></a>.</p>
Simon Brooke<p>So, thinking about it, that's part of what I'm doing building homes for folk who need them. I'm not building homes for all the people who need them; I can't do that. I'm not allocating my effort according to some bureaucratic assessment of needs. I can't do that, either. But I am responding to the needs that I can see around me, to the best of my ability.</p><p>If we all did that, we would all – every single one of us – be in a better place.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Homelessness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Homelessness</span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/StrawBaleHouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StrawBaleHouse</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/BeTheFutureYouWantToSee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BeTheFutureYouWantToSee</span></a></p>

The roundhouse wall construction went well. The space is cozy right away. The extra bales will be many good things too. <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/roundhouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>roundhouse</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/strawbalebuild" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>strawbalebuild</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/StrawBaleHouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StrawBaleHouse</span></a></p>
Simon Brooke<p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/roundhouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>roundhouse</span></a> and we have walls! The gaps above the big windows need filling, the straw needs to be tidied up in places, but substantially the bale wall is complete – two days ahead of schedule.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/StrawBaleHouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StrawBaleHouse</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/StrawBaleBuild" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StrawBaleBuild</span></a></p>

I've lived in houses of several periods, many built in the second half of the twentieth century, and I can attest that wattle-and-daub is superior to 1970s brick. Straw-bale would be even better. Ask Kevin McCloud. Better, ask the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/CentreForAlternativeTechnology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CentreForAlternativeTechnology</span></a> and book on their <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/StrawBaleHouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StrawBaleHouse</span></a> construction course. </p><p><a href="https://cat.org.uk/doing-architecture-differently-2/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">cat.org.uk/doing-architecture-</span><span class="invisible">differently-2/</span></a></p>
