I mean seriously, all #Google needed to do was add a few lines of explanation about what Album Archive was, since most users wouldn't recognize it under that name. I'll bet it never even occurred to Google that most ordinary users would have no idea what Google was talking about and might find the email suspicious. Not rocket science, guys!

This seems to be a common thread among the incidents they've been experiencing for years. They don't seem to consider how a product , , , major UI , or some other action will look from the user's point of view.

Are they just taking the for ? Pure obliviousness? Management incentives that discourage it?

A lot of the time I think I'd like to be a fly on the wall when these decisions are being made.

@cazabon My view, and this is from many years as a Google user (since the dawn of Google time) and two stints on the inside, is that there's a disconnect between management and the realities of how ordinary users view these services and how users understand (or don't understand) them. And even when this is pointed out, it's very difficult to get it taken as any kind of priority.

@lauren

I believe it.

Do you have any inkling of why there is this disconnect in the company? Surely it's been noticed given how many problems it has caused, so my guess is the incentives for management point in the wrong direction, but you have a far better inside point-of-view.

@cazabon I could guess, but I'm not telepathic, and that's above my pay grade (if I had a pay grade, which I don't).
