django-ca är en funktionsrik certifikatutfärdare skriven i #Python, som använder django-ramverket. Projektet har funnits länge, har bra dokumentation och kodkommentarer överallt. När jag letade efter möjliga certifikatutfärdare som kan användas i flera projekt på jobbet, verkar django-ca vara en bra baspassning. Även om det fortfarande har några saknade delar (som är viktiga för oss), till exempel HSM-stöd och certifikathantering över CMS.

Jag började titta på kodbasen för django-ca mer och under tiden började jag också städa upp (tillsammans med Magnus Svensson) ett annat bibliotek skrivet på jobbet för HSM-stöd. Jag började också prata med Mathias (som är författaren till django-ca) om den här funktionen.
Tack vare den fantastiska designen av Python Cryptography-teamet kunde jag bara lägga till flera privata nyckelimplementeringar i vårt bibliotek, som i sin tur kan användas som en vanlig privat nyckel.
Jag arbetade på en proof of concept-gren (PoC), samtidigt som jag fick många tester att också fungera.
