It's currently 30f at #ForkedMeadow #California which also was the overnight low. There isn't any rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future. It looks like we've entered spring at 6000ft with much of the snow already melted.

At 10,000 ft there is still over 6ft of snow though. So plan accordingly depending on where you plan to go in the high country in the #SierraNevada the next month or two.

A meadow at dawn with the last remnants of winter hanging around in the form of some snow drifts while most of the ground is bare. The grass has not yet started to green up.

Last Light Lake Tahoe

It's pretty amazing how fast the sun drops in the sky when your in the mountains. One minute I was relaxing with my wife, we were commenting on a wedding that was taking place down the beach away. By the time I noticed that the sun was setting I had to rush to get my gear together and set up on this dock in South Lake.

Last Light Lake Tahoe Last Light Lake Tahoe is an image I captured while visiting Lake Tahoe. In the foreground is a dock that runs out towards right edge of the image. The lake color changes from a dark blue to a reddish/orange color. The silhouette of the mountains split the lake and the sky. The sky is a brilliant yellow at the horizon that fades to orange and then blue. Out on the lake there are some boats moored out at their buoys.

After a bit over 2" of rain yesterday, #ForkedMeadow #California received about 2" of snow overnight. It is now 20f under partly-cloudy skies. Today the meadows might receive up to a foot of snow. The next band of moisture should arrive in an hour.

For the water year we're around 40" of precipitation. I don't have an exact number because our automated weather station has no way of measuring snow moisture so it's estimated
