If alphabets eat our worm-writhing dreams,
the faster way to find rebirth from silence
might be to drive all night on desert roads
while scattering apple seeds along the highway

Wind Of Endless Sorrow

Flapping his arms as if they are crow wings,
he follows her into the bitter sunset
to find the tattered remnant of his soul
snagged on the bare branch of the apple tree
that grows twisted

Each day, dactylic Dawn in red
Arises from my greybeard bed
Where River Okeanos ends.
But these days we are more like friends
Because the immortality
She lovingly obtained for me
Did not preserve me in my prime
Or counteract the test of time.

In search of harbor, turn to me

I stand in firmly locked position,
Endure the amateur musician
And suffer his abysmal verse.
Just when I think it can’t get worse,
His drunken fists bombard my wood.
I’d open for him if I could
But his access has been denied
By someone on the other side.

As you get older, you may find
The things that tend to draw your mind
Are hidden just below the ground.
Soon, you’ll be wandering around
In public places, grabbing hold
Of me and digging down for gold
Or silver every time I beep
To pile up your treasure heap.
