Why do #pigeons appear to tuck their necks in?
Since pigeons can't move their eyes around freely, they keep their head steady in the direction they’re moving, then shift their body under their head.
This creates the illusion of neck-tucking, but it’s actually their head acting as a fixed point for movement.

# はなぜ首をすくめるのでしょう?
目をキョロキョロさせられない鳩は、進行方向に頭を固定したあと、身体を頭の下へ移動させています
頭を支点に移動しているので首をすくめているように見えるだけなんです

"Analysing the strategy of the current US government is like analysing the chess game of a pigeon. The pigeon will try to eat the pieces, knock them off the board, crap on the board and fly off. Off course the pigeon has its own strategy, but you can‘t look at it with the tools you would use to analyse a normal game of chess." says a commenter on #TypeAshton's latest YouTube video.

That's a bit harsh on #pigeons. They see that the pieces are inedible. (-:

And then there's Charlie. He has this habit of wandering in whenever he pleases, placing his front paws on my left leg, and staring at me intently. He’s an incredibly needy dog. Sometimes, I wonder if he’s afraid we might send him off to live among the strays we often pass during our walks through the neighborhood or along the road. I think he just wants to check and make sure I’m still here. Here he is again—this time, he’s decided to curl up on the left side of my chair and keep me company. Ben? Ben is older and more independent, though he has his clingy moments too. He doesn’t like being alone and will often bark insistently until I join him in the family room to keep him company.

Pigeons in Black and White

This black and white photograph captures two pigeons in close formation, their wings fully extended in mid-flight. The intricate details of their feathers and their synchronized movement create a sculptural quality, prompting some viewers to liken the image to a finely crafted statue. The harmonious balance of the birds against the minimalist backdrop evokes a sense of elegance and timeless beauty.

I never overlook pigeons in my photographic journey; in fact, I find joy in watching them perform their graceful dance across the sky. Explore my photo gallery at:

I really need to get off my proverbial couch and start being productive, but I just don't feel like it. I wonder if Maslow ever considered a scenario where wants take precedence over needs. For instance, when someone gets paid at the end of the week, should they prioritize buying food or upgrading to a new cellphone? Surprisingly, the choice often falls on the cellphone. In today's world of constant connectivity, one could argue that a cellphone qualifies as a necessity, though perhaps not as fundamental as food. Meanwhile, there are many in the United States whose most basic needs—food and shelter—remain unmet, forcing them to struggle daily. As the saying goes, "There but for the grace of God, go I."

“It isn't normal to know what we want. It is a rare and difficult psychological achievement.” -Abraham Maslow
