Took the kids to rolling practice last night. Two of them anyway.
The older one just wanted to check that his roll is still good before the season starts.
The younger one seems to be slowly developing an interest in #whitewater #kayaking. She stuck with the first few steps, but did really well on those. Maybe we can finally get her out on some rivers this summer!
First thunderstorm of the year!
I was meaning to go #kayaking on the lake, but the weather is too sus.
Windy day for kayaking, but today's trip featured a bald eagle that fled from me from Mill Creek to Dexter Huron. I felt bad when he got mobbed by crows on his third landing, but he did let me get close enough for a good photo before he finally headed back upstream. #huronriverSEMichigan #kayaking #birds
For what's almost certainly our last #kayaking outing of what's been one of our best ever seasons, we went to a very special place: Kai Iwi lakes, precious dune lakes north of Dargaville. Kayaking, swimming in the beautiful blue water, picnicking on the white sands. An excellent day out.
This photo was taken a few years ago on an earlier visit, but it's still just as lovely.
After all of the training and anxiety, assessment day turned out to be really fun. Lots of incidents, first aid and maydays, but got everyone home safe and still smiling #kayaking
Gray morning but first time out on Boston Harbor since October. Here, the Sapphire Coast and its cement barge swing on the tide.
#kayaking in #Whangaroa Harbour. Excellent day, interesting rock formations (andesitic brecia, I looked it up). Paddled 12.5km from the boat ramp out to Pekapeka Bay and back. Water was clear. I'll bring snorkeling gear next time.
We had the most wonderful day #kayaking on Whangaroa Harbour. Despite having been to the Far North several times, we'd never before taken the side road to this lovely place. What a revelation it was! Water calm as a lake, bush-clad slopes, striking rock formations, even some quiet little sandy beaches (we had one to ourselves). Boats here and there, but plenty of room for all.
About to launch:

e para complicar a cousa parece que ao revés que en inglés (polo menos lendo a wikipedia¹ e as definicións no dicionario ² e ³.
indo á federación galega de piragüismo non parecen estar nestas minucias de definir os tipos de deportes
kayaking, en inglés, parece o que aquí chamamos piragüismo. É dicir, vai sentada a persoa coas pernas estricadas e ten un remo con dúas pas.
canoeing, en inglés, parece o tipo de canoa chamado caiac. Que usan un remo simple, que van en postura máis erguida, polo menos competindo. Pretendo usar remo. Que tamén temós Federación Galega de Remo, pero parecen os traiñeiras.
Fun mirar ao dicionario por mirar, porque total…
