Thinking about fossil marine invertebrates that Keilan-Jaworowska studied at the beginning of her career, made me think of this pattern made from my linocut animal prints with collaged washi papers from the Cambrian Period (from 538.8 million to 485.4 million years ago).

For the final #InsertAnInvert2024 prompt “diving” and for #invertefest this is a hand-printed of the Paroster pallescens beetle, surface diving water beetle from Australia. It is printed on 8” x 8” Japanese paper.

Paroster is a genus of beetles in the family Dytiscidae. I really liked the look of this beetle and the amazing diversity of this genus of Australian diving beetles!

VERY basic spider leg IK is working in Godot. Spider walks, and can sorta climb objects. There is still a lot more work to do...but it's a start.

A 2024 invertebrate print for #invertefest: made for the deepest prompt of #InsertAnInvert2024, hadal - which refers to the deepest ocean trenches 6 km or more, it’s the headless chicken monster!

This is a lino block print of a strange-looking sea cucumber called Enypniastes eximia, the swimming sea cucumber, the pink see-through fantasia or the headless chicken monster!

The 6y/o has discovered squids (shared with permission)

For #invertefest I have an etching of a UK mason bee printed using the chine collé method of placing thin paper and a sprinkling of wheat paste on to the plate to collage and print in one pass through the press. That's how the wings have the diaphanous white effect.

For #invertefest, and some extra #artAdventCalendar posts till the end of December, I will post some of my 2024 #invertebrate art. This was a commissioned of my choice of invertebrates in Indonesia. I chose the Great Mormon Butterfly because I thought its black/white/grey and red colour scheme was so graphic and would make a great print. Interestingly though, they don’t always look like this.
