It’s not that I wasn’t totally unaware of it, but only since I setup my backup account @boeckli@mas.to that I truly realized how much I’ve been missing out. So much content, so many interactions out there that are not “visible” to me when I use this self hosted account. That really gives me second thoughts about using my own instance.
Perhaps I shouldn’t care about it.. but it does make me wonder..

@keremgoart Can't say I'm really into the content you post, but I'm sure you'll find your people! Maybe you aren't #federated with the right kinds of servers? Check https://fedi.tips for some help. Or possibly it might help to join an #instance which is more geared towards your kind of content, I'm pretty sure those exist. https://fedi.garden/ can help you there.

LOR.SH - IS SHUTTING DOWN SOON
As has already been stated in announcements, this will happen in a couple of months.
Because of this, I've noticed more than once that everyone is creating threads like "where do we go now."
Since I have a pretty decent outreach, I propose creating the ultimate "where do we go now" thread.
In it, I suggest:
Discussing what to do next and why there's no need to panic Where you can register a new account How you can "migrate" to a new account Discussing hosting your own personal server If possible, bringing up any questions not yet addressed in this thread that may be bothering you
I also suggest using the hashtag #LorshMigration for anyone who wants to talk about this now or find each other after the server shuts down, in case something goes wrong. I'm already following it and posting under it with my thoughts on the move or sharing useful info.
If you'd like, you can participate in a subthread for a "census" of people who've moved, stating where you moved from and where to.
Please remember that this thread is not communication with support staff, but just a chat with people who decided to help out on their own initiative.

To me it appears to be fully #AIgenerated news #content and a mastodon #server with 75 accounts dedicated to distributing links to the content with country and topic specific #hashtags.
So far, so normal in 2025, I guess. But I'm a bit distrustful of content creators that do not provide any information whatsoever about what kind of organisation or individuals are behind it, escpecially for news or political content.
