Ostrich ferns reaching for light in early spring. This was taken April 23rd. Now they are over 3 feet tall.

The incident sunlight illuminates the center portion of the fern a vibrant translucent green. At the top the fern, the fiddle heads are shaded from the morning sun and are dark green. The shallow depth of field shows partially decayed sticks and leaves in the foreground while the background is out of focus green and gold colored vegetation.
