This Is My Glasgow<p>So next time you are slogging up one of the city's many hills, just remember you're climbing part of an ancient glacial landscape. It won't make it any easier, but it might just distract you from your efforts for a few minutes!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/geology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>geology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowgeology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowgeology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/drumlin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drumlin</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/gardnerstreet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gardnerstreet</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>However, not all Glasgow hills are drumlins. For example, the hill the necropolis is built on isn't a drumlin. Instead is the remains of an extinct volcano, but it too has been sculpted by glacial action, with the ice whittling away the outer rock, leaving just the central plug of solidified magma sticking into the air. </p><p>Cont./</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/geology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>geology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowgeology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowgeology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/drumlin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drumlin</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/gardnerstreet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gardnerstreet</span></a></p>

pmcnally<p>My daughter Feenie and I took an afternoon field trip to hike around Chimney Bluffs in Wolcott, NY. The bluffs are drumlins caused by glacial flow, which have since eroded into interesting shapes. I was mad later when there was no time to stop for ice cream at Orbaker’s, because Feenie had to get back in time for work at the library. I suppose that’s neither here nor there. I just like ice cream, though. <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/drumlin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drumlin</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/glaciers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glaciers</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/erosion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>erosion</span></a></p>
