“If you keep hundreds of ideas at your fingertips that you’ve collected over decades… you get an unbelievable amount of inspiration from just randomly looking at 25 of those ideas every now and again and thinking to yourself, is there a way they work together in a new and interesting way?”

In the gym I've been watching videos on common place books. It tickles an itch I get this time of year for notebooks and writing and organization. Also a little nostalgia for Lemon Snicket.

It also has me considering using paper for immediate thoughts or collecting and Obsidian for a long term collection and second draft type space. I haven't tried merging paper and tech beyond calendars but I think this could work well for all my writing itches.

A dog, like fiction
asks permission
and waits patiently.
He walks around my feet,
wagging his tail,
but I'll walk him when
I'm ready
(thank you very much).
A dog eats what I give him,
laps at my leftovers,
and then looks up at me
with round eyes
when I ignore him at bedtime.
He doesn't mind
being locked
away into a small cage.

"When I became aware [in college] of my 'wrong' experience, I chose fantasy. Convinced that I had no real experience of life, since my own obviously wasn't part of Great Literature, I decided consciously that I'd write things nobody knew about, dammit. So I wrote realism disguised as fantasy, that is, science fiction." p. 127

My mom has a strong daily habit of recording in her daily / / . My sister sent her a bunch of stuff for her recent birthday, and this is mom’s entry — shipping labels (redacted here by me), parts of packaging labels, a tracing of the scissors, etc. And, of course, the date and her verses for the day. And she still has such beautiful handwriting! ✍️
