A slightly fancy false cut, based on the Sybil. My only innovation was to eliminate the weird, discrepant move that everyone does at the end to restore the deck to original order.

I don't like fancy *anything* when it comes to cards, because it seems to defeat the object of appearing as though you're not proficient.

In this regard, magicians and cardists are always working at cross-purposes.

It's funny you know, when it comes to actual magic (that is, close up magic with cards, or stage illusions), it's the opposite.

As soon as technology is or even appears to be involved, any chance to amaze your audience is ruined. There is an easy explanation right there: oh it's some kind of technology.

That's why the best magic is close up with common objects in the spectator's hand. Tech no longer creates wonder at a gut level for most people.

So I visited a few friends over the weekend and was like "Hey, I learned some card tricks, wanna see?" And of course being friends they said "sure".

Well, my brain picked that moment to shut down and conflate the two tricks. I set up the first trick the wrong way three times before I remembered how to do it.

But hey, the second trick went off without a hitch. :-P I think it's safe to say that I am not ready to take on Penn and Teller just yet.

There are so many #hobbies I'd like to enjoy, but then after I try them I lose interest-- and the thing is most require some dedication and commitment to make it worth it.

#Drawing, #lockpicking, #knitting (can often do like one or two rows before I get tired), #cardistry, #languages, even #videogames. I'm certain the list goes on...

Does anyone else experience this, and more importantly, how have you managed it? Even #reading things I find interesting results in my reading the same paragraph over and over again and not comprehending the overall message, so I #read it again...
