Every Sunday I look back at the preceding week in kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen tripleS ∞! – Untitled.

As with just about everybody else who is not a hardcore fan of tripleS, I am now completely lost when it comes to subunits; I don’t even know how to read this subunit’s name.

Anyway, the song itself has grown on me. When it really clicked was with the release of this performance version, which abstracts away from the high school setting and adolescent angst of the original MV. As is so often the case, performance versions and stages, by dispensing with narrative and the straightforwardly representational, appeal to the formalist in me.
