Aubergines are the only vegetable that does not have a best before date.

There is no time after harvesting that they are worth eating. Waste of space on the plate.

I have had a Turkish friend try to convince me of its value. These have all been recipes that involve going to great lengths to create flavour by throwing large amounts of herbs, spiced or garlic at it to disguise the fact that it is an aubergine.
