Does anyone know if there is a way for #VLC Media Player to retain #playlist data after closing the program? I had a crash today, and recreating my playlist was hard. I have tried saving to an XSPF playlist file, but these don't update with new entries (they seem to be read-only) If the feature doesn't exist, I am willing to put aside some money to send to VideoLAN to have it as a feature on Linux and other platforms.

While on your phone, see an article or website you want to #save?

In your browser, click the 3 dots in the upper right, to open the menu.

With in menu, choose #Share. At the top of the next window, choose #Print.

At the top, where your Printer is listed, click the down arrow to the right of the currently selected Printer, and instead choose SAVE AS #PDF.

From there, you can customize your choice, and then save to your phone.

Yesterday I started working on a small #painting on heavy paper. I decided to again work directly from the small acrylic tubes using them like pens to develop strokes with a thick/thin layer and was using some old masking tape but it would not release without unforgivable tearing and so the whole exercise was as if I had forgotten to hit #save. #art

More Voyager Instruments shut down to eke out Power Supplies

The shutdowns were already planned to take place as the venerable probes enter the final years of their operational life. The team hopes that if it takes action now, the robotic spacecraft could still be operating with at least one science instrument into the 2030s.

To save energy for further interstellar exploration, mission engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) deactivated Voyager 1's cosmic ray subsystem experiment on Feb. 25. On March 24, now they will shut down the low-energy charged particle instrument onboard Voyager 2. "The Voyagers have been deep space rock stars since launch, and we want to keep it that way as long as possible," Voyager project manager at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Suzanne Dodd said in a statement. "But electrical power is running low. If we don’t turn off an instrument on each Voyager now, they would probably have only a few more months!" Both Voyager spacecraft have a power system based on generating electricity from the heat emitted by the decay of a radioactive isotope of plutonium. <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioisotope_thermoelectric_generator> This radioisotopic power system loses around 4 watts of power from Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 each year. In the 1980s, several instruments aboard both spacecraft were turned off. This was because the Voyager twins had both completed their investigation of the solar system's giant planets, which boosted the longevity of both probes.

Launched in 1977 and carrying the same suite of ten instruments, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 reached interstellar space in 2012 and 2018, respectively. It is little wonder that Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are operating on dwindling power supplies. After all, the two spacecraft have traveled a combined 29 billion miles to become the farthest human-built objects from Earth. However, the Voyagers are scientific missions, and they're still stubbornly fulfilling those missions. "The Voyager spacecraft have far surpassed their original mission to study the outer planets," said Patrick Koehn, Voyager program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington. "Every bit of additional data we have gathered since then is not only valuable bonus science for heliophysics but also a testament to the exemplary engineering that has gone into the Voyagers – starting nearly 50 years ago and continuing to this day."

Trying to #save #money by not shopping this week for food. Eating what’s in the cupboards.

Used the last of our carrots and potatoes, plus a packet of vegetarian sausages, some herbs and spices, vegetarian gravy, tinned kidney beans and a handful of brown rice.

Hopefully it’ll last.

A crockpot filled with ingredients, and a mixture of orange, yellow and red.
