How cool is this? Somebody got a picture of me at the march down fifth avenue today! A favorite sign I saw was "They're cashing the checks. They're cashing the dividends."

click.actionnetwork.orgSign to tell Congress, federal courts, and the U.S. Marshals Service: Take urgent action now to defend our due process rights and stop Trump’s fascist repression! Still illegally detaining Mahmoud Khalil, the Trump administration has continued to detain and deport more immigrants, including students and workers here with green cards and valid visas. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says he’s monitoring student visa holders’ social media posts and aiming to deport people who criticize the U.S. government. Many of these actions violate federal judges’ orders, and all of them violate our constitutional rights to free speech and due process, which apply to everyone in the United States regardless of immigration status. By defying federal courts and even threatening to impeach federal judges who’ve blocked his unconstitutional actions, Trump and his administration have brought us to an unprecedented constitutional crisis. As laid out in the Constitution, the federal judiciary branch of government is obligated to provide a check on unconstitutional actions from the legislative branch (Congress) and the executive branch (the president). But leaders in Trump’s administration, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, have vowed to continue defying court orders—such as the order blocking deportations to notoriously dangerous prisons in El Salvador. Bondi has even claimed that judges don’t have the right to block Trump’s actions, which is an outrageous lie. Trump and his administration are not only violating human and constitutional rights, they’re also undermining one of the most fundamental principles of our democracy: the system of checks and balances between branches of government. This is a threat to all of us. The U.S. Marshals Service specifically has the power to enforce federal court orders, but it’s overseen by Trump’s Department of Justice as well as federal courts. Despite their connection to the Trump administration, we need U.S. Marshals—as well as the judiciary and legislative branches of government—to act immediately as checks to Trump’s power. Sign to demand the U.S. Marshals Service, Congress, and federal courts act as necessary checks to Trump’s fascist repression. These institutions must urgently defend our constitutional rights, including the right to due process.

American law has long rested on the foundational principle that everyone has the right to a lawyer and that lawyers are free to choose whom they represent. Are the Trump executive orders endangering this principle? #Trump #constitution #rights #law

WI's high turnout suggests that voters can grasp that courts/ #RuleOfLaw matters. It turns out families talk about more than the price of groceries. Dems shouldn’t shy away from raising issues of justice & fairness & indiv #rights.

One of the leading issues -was in the st SC contest 2 yrs ago, was #ReproductiveRights. Dems in WI hammered away at the theme that the R-backed cand -would ban abortion +ARG their SC could affect citizens’ access to HC.

I want to see them *prove* it was #Luigi.

I'm #blind, but my kid that served in the #Army says Luigi does *not* look like the man in the #video. I've also seen people #online saying that.

I have a #jury summons for later this week. I've been an alternate in the past.I was also part of a pool that couldn't seat a jury. That time, it was a #criminal case, and the defense attorney said something that I will always remember.

The gis is that when a defendant gets off on a technicality, that is a euphemism for the prosecution not being able to make the case without violating the defendant's #rights.

That's really important. The #Constitution is not a technicality. It is what protects us from #Government overreach.
