"I've just received a letter from a reader of my books. She's reading Blood Libel. It inspired her, she said, to seek out the only synagogue in the (I'm guessing rural) county she lives in and wish them a blessed Passover. What a wonderful letter to get today!"
That might be the best thing I've ever received from a reader.

I had no idea that the back and forth negotiations for distribution rights of a game for computers / arcades / video consoles / handheld devices could be so thrilling! Also, so very ‘seat of the pants.’
Even if ½ of this is fiction (which seems unlikely, as so much of it is sufficiently wild that no one could make it up), it’s amazing that any of us have ever heard of the game at all.
Very highly recommended.

New anime: #MaebashiWitches was what I watched in hopes of finding a better magical girl meets singing anime than You & Idol PreCure but I can’t say I’m convinced that this is it.
There being some conflict among the characters is understandable, but throwing in 5 characters at once is a bit too much.
I guess it comes with the genre that most of the characters made me think of magical girls I already knew. The pink and purple ones are a bit too extreme in their characteristics and the other 3 didn’t make a big impression.
The songs are also not that catchy, I didn’t really feel like I want to rewind and listen to/ watch the performance again.
I don’t have the feeling that further episodes will be drastically different…
New anime: We checked out the new #Devil MayCry animated series. Look and feel are quite close to the #Castlevania series and you can guess I liked that because my avatar is from it.
The first episode looked great and was putting on a lot of information and plot into it. For me, the most unrealistic thing was people in the White House actually listening to experts (but I guess if the Vice president is in on them…).
Dante so far seems like a different type of “hero” than at least Japanese anime usual has and seems interesting enough to carry the series. I think we’ll watch the complete series soon.
Note: If To Be Hero X counts as anime (mostly Chinese production), I guess this one (Korean Studio) should as well.
New anime: #ToBeHeroX first and foremost looks amazing! The visuals are really a great and I like how the art style shifts between 2D and 3D for different scenes.
Story-wise this world reminds me of MHA (it doesn’t help that I watched that yesterday) but the hero business seems way more capitalized on by companies, so I guess Tiger & Bunny would be the more fitting comparison. But the main character’s circumstances are quite new and I’m curious to see how he’ll grow into his role - or face despair, just like the guy he’s trying to be.
Overall I’m hopeful that this will be an interesting but dark take on hero business.
We started with Japanese dub but I want to try the Chinese one because it is a Chinese production.
