@Daveosaurus What an absolutely brilliant idea - 'The People's Select Committee', former MPs from across the political spectrum, gathering and hearing evidence, planning to report by the end of the year. Shaming the government and keeping the issue in the public eye. She's a national treasure!

RNZ · Pay equity changes: 'People's select committee' formed to gather evidence instead of 'high-flying cliches'By Russell Palmer

Economic growth is often powered by workers spending - they don't have the luxury of hoarding like the well-off. Cutting pay equity is a gvt shooting itself in the foot to paint a better picture for bookkeeping purposes.
The lack of courage in properly taxing capital via a broad-based CGT (that would conservatively yield over $7B pa) has been rejected by the sexist men and crumb maidens of this gvt because they've calculated they can afford to neglect low paid women and women in general. Wrong. Majorly wrong. #payequity #NZPol

Today's #payequity protest/hui at Parliament admittedly wasn't a massive turnout - maybe 1000-1500 ppl.

But the energy, spirit and determination of those who attended was superb. And we got a lot of love for our little signs.

Multiple Labour, Green and TPM MPs came out to acknowledge the protestors, with several Labour MPs coming right down into the crowd to talk with people.

This is more than a campaign, it's a movement. #NZPol

If you're in Te Whanganui-a-Tara this afternoon, there's a Budget Day protest at 1-2pm on Parliament Lawn. In support of the comprehensive pay equity system NatACT First intend to scrap. This is one of a series of events happening all through May;

These events are supported by (organised by?) the PSA (Public Service Association), whose members are obviously affected in huge numbers.

NZCTU · Pay Equity Events - NZCTUThe Government using Pay Equity settlements as a way to fund their Budget is a new low.

Great breakdown of the #NZPol #PayEquity abandonment by Willis to fund the budget and Nact's tax cuts.

A bonus behind the curtain yarn about the Minister of Finance's efforts to ban the CTU and more specifically CTU Economist, Craig Renney from the Budget 25 lockup.

This self own by Nicola is corrupt but also just embarrassing. NZ is being governed by inept B-Grade scam artists.

Sometimes the very best word to capture an action or a sentiment is a sweary word.

While I have my own personal reasons for not especially liking the "c-word", Andrea Vance's use of it to describe the senior women of the Coalition Gvt doing the bidding for their colleagues in stopping pay equity dead in its tracks - is 💯perfect. #NZPol #payequity
