They face up to 3 years & 8 months in prison, as well as the payment of restitution to reimburse the #university for the damage.

#Stanford is one of dozens of schools being investigated by the #Trump admin for how they have handled pro-#Palestinian protests & whether they have done enough to combat antisemitism on campus. The admin has also revoked the #visas of several Stanford #students & recent graduates, though the reason is unclear.

The charges were among the most severe levied against participants in last year’s pro-#Palestinian #demonstrations on #college campuses. >3k people were arrested at college #protests & encampments in spring 2024, but they generally faced misdemeanor charges or saw their charges dropped.

I normally mark all my #picturesthatdontneedcaptions files that show parts of dead bodies as sensitive due to #Mastodon rules but I would like to post this one without the marking....

Neither does this hand belong to a wax figure of Madame Tussaud's nor to a puppet on a horror movie set - this is the hand of a #Palestinian baby, a little human being #MurderedbyIsrael.

Melbourne cinema cancels screening of Oscar-winning doco after receiving threats.

The documentary, #NoOtherLand is the joint work of #Palestinian and #Israeli filmmakers, and examines the ongoing violent illegal theft of Palestinian land in the #WestBank by Israeli settlers.

The screening was organised by Jewish Council of Australia. Those using threats to shut it down (presumably pro-Israeli far-right supporters of the violence documented in the film) are likely motivated by hatred: of Palestinians and/or Arabs and/or Muslims, but also of the myriad Jewish people who don't support apartheid, land theft and genocide.

Will a single politician from either major party (who have often turned calls for 'social cohesion' into a weapon to attack anti-genocide activism) name the threats against this cinema as both Islamophobic *and* antisemitic?

Border agents pressured Makled to hand over his cell phone. He refused. After more than 90 minutes of back-&-forth, he showed agents his contacts list. He was eventually released. Makled says he was never given a reason for his detainment.

However, one of his current clients is a #student who has been charged in connection to a pro-#Palestinian #protest at the University of Michigan.
