These fuckin clowns 🤡

"A 30-day funding freeze enacted by the #Trump administration at #FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has caused an immediate pause to the millions of dollars distributed to help vulnerable #nonprofits, including many #Jewish institutions, meet their #security needs.

#Synagogues, Jewish day schools and other organizations that rely on the FEMA funding dispersed through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program have not received reimbursements allocated to them, according to representatives from the Secure Community Network, an organization that provides security services to Jewish nonprofits."

Is criminalizing nonprofit environmental efforts the new strategy? Kash Patel aims to freeze assets of groups like Habitat for Humanity, citing dubious claims involving EPA grants. Court filings indicate the FBI is pursuing these alleged "criminal violations," raising concerns that attempts to silence climate initiatives are at play. 📣 #Hunger Doesn't Take Days Off!

➡️ With federal funding cuts affecting food banks and vital food programs, it's crucial to understand that food insecurity doesn't discriminate. Even those not living in #poverty can struggle to put food on the table.

📌#Nonprofits can't do this work alone. They depend on the support of #community partners, donors, and #volunteers. Every act of kindness makes a difference!

📲If you're struggling, find your local #food bank here: feedingamerica.org/find-your-l

I am a proud supporter of that…
-provide food to families
-help house the homeless
-respond to domestic violence
-rescue abandoned pets
-protect wildlife
-provide childhood education
-celebrate the arts
-conserve the enviroment
-protect civil liberties
-fight discrimination
-rebuild after disasters
And more.

The nonprofit sector is a vital part of our society.

Vu Le, NonprofitAF: Funders should ask themselves “If we knew that in two years, there will be no more fair elections; any media that criticize the government get sued or disbanded and its journalists jailed; any organization accused of engaging in DEI is shuttered; protests are declared illegal and protestors and anyone who helps them get arrested; and we are branded a terrorism-funding foundations and our endowment gets seized, how would we act?”

Nonprofit AFThanks, Foundations, but 6% or Even 10% Payout is Not EnoughHi everyone, I hope you’re doing OK during this time of Fascist Extremist Assholes Reign (FEAR). If you’re free this...

🙄MacArthur Foundation increases giving by 1% to respond to fascist induced crisis

Via AP- Palfrey said the foundation would increase giving from 5% of its endowment, which is the minimum required by the Internal Revenue Service, to at least 6% for the next two years. The foundation reported it had $8.7 billion in assets in 2023 and it pays out around $400 million annually.

Continued thread

…On top of seeking the elimination of #DEI & “#environmental #justice” teams throughout the federal government, the #Trump EOs also directed agency heads to draw up lists of publicly traded #companies, #universities & #nonprofits to potentially *investigate* over certain DEI practices. The orders also conditioned government contracts & grants on companies & organizations certifying that they don’t engage in DEI practices that may violate non-#discrimination laws.

Many nonprofits rely heavily on federal grants and AmeriCorps members. These nonprofits are being told that they need to scrub anything mentioning diversity, equity, and inclusion if they expect any federal funding or assistance moving forward. (Attached are a couple of examples from a literacy nonprofit called Reading Partners). It's possible that many of Trump's executive orders will be defeated in court, but--even if that happens--the legal process can be slow. Funding is being pulled from programs / nonprofits / research that cannot survive long without it. So, if you see an organization complying with these orders, please do not immediately think less of them. Do not assume they are making these changes because they want to. In most cases they are simply trying to weather the storm and survive long enough to continue helping the communities that depend on their services.

Once again #nonprofits lead the way (as they did in the suit that stayed the Republican administration EO freeze on government funding.) I'm proud to be working with & for nonprofits and communities everywhere.

Nonprofits sue over Trump's anti-diversity, anti-trans executive orders, alleging they violate the First Amendment & equal protection guarantees, are void for vagueness, exceed the president's authority, & violate the Administrative Procedure Act.
