Hope SaraI received an email last wk from a senior colleague inviting me to a seminar regarding teaching. It fell outside of my kiddo's nursery hrs so I replied explaining why I couldn't come. Colleague responded that she saw no reason why that should be barrier & actively encouraged me to come & bring my kiddo. I can't emphasise enough how immensely supportive & wonderful this was. I was so nervous going to the seminar, but everyone I've spoken to since then who was in attendance has told me that they didn't mind and it didn't impact on them negatively. THIS is what inclusive teaching & a supportive working environment looks like. THIS is what parent students NEED if having kids isn't going to be a barrier to education & career progression.
