Log house renovation photos. Built in 1550 and 1638 and neglected over a long time, these needed serious work, but are now habitable again.

The #loam began to crumble off the thick walls of the 400-year-old timber-frame house. It was beautiful, but had lacked maintenance for at least the past 100 years. Straw peeked out of the fading, ancient soil. And what was that? It looked like a tiny human skull...
Interesting #soilchart for the home #gardener.

He wrote,
"All the #Books [say] #Soil is the most important part of #Gardening.
But, if a man [already has] his own #Backyard before he opens the #Book, what remedy is there?
All the books stress the need for "deep, friable loam - full of nitrogen."
This I have never seen.
My own land [contains] nothing but #Earth.
I could see no trace of #Nitrogen.
In all humility... I don't know what #Loam is."
