The US now has >600 #measles cases in 22 states, acc/to the #CDC [& who knows if that’s being accurately reported]. That includes 481 cases in #Texas alone. The country has now reported >2X the number of measles cases this year than were reported in all of 2024.

The CDC says there have been 6 measles #outbreaks so far this year.

Kids understand what harms them now. This is the result of years, decades, of their parents also understanding that and passing it on to their kids.

This is a public health success story. It is also a success story for legalization of a once-controlled substance.

#PSA for anyone considering a sleep study for any reason:

STAY AWAY FROM BLACKSTONE MEDICAL SERVICES

They knowingly submitted a sleep study based on false data to my insurance provider. This is after sending me a dirty, broken pulse oximeter, then ignoring my calls and attempts to inform them of this. The sensor readings were consistently low, but I foolishly tested with it anyway. They then had a "doctor" generate a sleep report based on this incorrect data. Insurance is taking their side, which means I have zero options here except to grit my teeth and get fucked financially.

Seriously, I cannot stress this enough - look for literally any other option. Random strangers on reddit would be a smarter choice here.

One of the judges at our South Asia Awards in Delhi last weekend told me that his family were gripped by the drama about a teenage schoolboy in England who, influenced by the “manosphere,” murders a female student.1 While the universally acclaimed series might have further explored the harms posed by the manosphere (doi:10.1136/bmj.p2947),2 it makes us confront some difficult issues, themes that resonate powerfully around the globe. One of these is smartphone use by children and the access it gives them to social media. Where should we stand on this? Many of us began by viewing social media and smartphones as a force for good.
