Was braucht ihr ? Barrierefreiheits Tools ?

New episode of Thinkydoers just dropped!

Guest Nailah King joined me for a conversation about creating client stories that actually showcase your impact when you're shy, introverted, or traditional marketing hype doesn't fit you.

If you've ever hesitated to ask clients for testimonials or felt your work doesn't translate to "I 10X-ed my revenue!" stories, this one's for you.

Some background about research behind high sensitivity as well as some good info for people who have this trait.

I relate:
"In brief, if you want to be sure you are dealing with a highly sensitive person, watch for signs of depth of processing. For example, their ideas are usually well thought-out. If they suggest where to go for a hike, they have probably considered the time of day, the aspect of shade and sun, the wind, and the distance from other hikers, among other pertinent details."

Good advice:
"A fourth need is to change one’s lifestyle. In particular, HSPs need to avoid reaching debilitating levels of overstimulation. They need to plan for adequate downtime. After a lifetime of trying to be like the majority, this can require some effort and even willpower to arrange work and family life so that it is how it should be for the individual HSP, while taking into consideration their responsibilities to others. Lifestyle changes pay off for the HSP and everyone around them, allowing them to make their trait a real asset."

AeonWhat does it mean to be a highly sensitive person? | Aeon EssaysThose with this little-known trait think more deeply and feel more empathy. But they also deal with significant challenges

Eating grapefruit & I'm reminded of the time me & Person X had to supply breakfast for a group. I talked over ideas with the host, we settled on store-bought croissants, muffins & grapefruit. At the breakfast literally nobody (except me) ate what I brought, not even the host who approved the items. Person X's food was finished & I had to bring home all my leftovers. I felt so embarrassed & slighted.

This is why at any potluck I always make sure no dish is untouched.

This article is about the benefits of dating a highly sensitive person, or HSP.

I think, though, that HSPs -- especially those who aren't aware of their high sensitivity or haven't fully embraced it -- should be given the message upfront: if someone can't appreciate that you're highly sensitive, that person is not for you.

If the other person tells you that you're too sensitive or emotional or becomes guarded because you can read them well, it's probably not a good match.

Sensitive Refuge · 7 Benefits of Dating a Highly Sensitive PersonWhen dating, wouldn’t you rather date someone sensitive and empathetic vs. the opposite?

this isn't totally new but i've recently asked one of my best friends "what's happening?" a few times, each time being spot-on about something suddenly being the matter, w/o them consciously giving hints (sometimes even trying hard not to, they've told me).
i know this isn't anything weird or spooky, it's my #HSP brain collecting tiny tiny tiny signals that something's off. but it sometimes does feel pretty amazing to know when to help someone out even when they're trying not to "bother" you.

As someone who doesn't want to get Covid or any of the other viruses floating around, I mask indoors.

But I have to disagree with the people who say "masking is easy" as a way to try to convince (or judge) others.

Setting aside the social aspects of it, masking is not easy, physically, for everyone. And if you have any sensitivity issues (HSP/highly sensitive person here🙋‍♀️ ), it might be somewhere on the spectrum of tolerable from most to least.

I've tried different masks, but no matter which ones, the straps cut into my ears, even the over-the-head ones. At the end of a long journey, I'm in some sort of pain or discomfort.

They're terrible for dealing with a runny nose. And my nose runs when I come inside from the cold even when I am not sick. You either have to break the seal around your mask to use a tissue, or you have to hope that you can keep your runny nose contained. Not a great choice either way.

They also tend to contribute to dry eye. Then, if you wear glasses, use earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones, or need anything else around your face/head, the combination starts to feel oppressive.

If masking is easy for you, that's great. I don't think it's easy for many people, and some people may not even be aware of or be able to express why masking is difficult for them in a society where we are often supposed to ignore or at least stay quiet about physical discomfort -- this might be true even if the majority were still masking.

So, two things can be true. Masking is important in various situations and according to various factors, but it's not necessarily easy. For me, the risk and discomfort of disease outweighs the physical discomfort of the mask, but it isn't like while I'm wearing it that I'm not longing to rip it off at the soonest safe opportunity.
