I had a privilege of hanging out with Annie yesterday evening. It was still hot, but there was nice breeze as the mini-heatwave was melting away. 🥰💕🐀🎐彡

Peaceful coexistence with the ratty kind is achievable, friends. We just have to treat them with love, respect and kindness. And birthControl.

Evening primroses and blue salvias are blooming now. Hydrangea, milkweeds and pokeweed have flower buds. Pink dianthus keeps blooming despite being eaten by the small bunny. Lemon balm is in the wire-mesh cage. Blue hyssop in the small cage is coming back slowly.

Vertical snapshot of the left half of my flowerbed where yellow flowers of evening primroses are giving a show now. To the right of them bloom, blue salvias which overwintered in the mini greenhouse in the large pot they came in. In the front row by the scalloped-top stone tile border, pink dianthus are flowering low to the ground. Blue hyssop is in the cylinder wire cage behind the dianthus. There is some unplanted space in the bottom right. In the background, tall daisy bush is getting half as tall as the wooden fence behind it. A small triangle of grass is seen in the bottom left corner.

In addition to all the plants I’ve described in the other photo, pokeweed is in the top left, and the white railing and lattice of the kitchen door landing is seen behind it. To the right of it, the elm sapling in the corner. To the right of blue salvias, a big bush of hydrangea has flower buds. In front of it, lemon balm in the wire-mesh cage. Some common milkweeds are in the right. A small pot of blue salvias grown inside are blooming at the bottom right corner.

I don’t know if you remember but I had a mini greenhouse in my flowerbed for my old lavender, which sadly didn’t make it. She thrived for 13 years. Oh, but pray don’t be sad, I foresaw this and propagated a couple of her clones. 🥰🌿🌿✨
Good news is the blue salvias have survived the winter in there. So I saved 17$ this year! Yay! Bees love them. 🌱🐝💖

I’ve added many sticks around the rim of the pot to place a purple produce netting to deter squirrel from digging in the pot of tender emerging plants. There’s a hydrangea waking up in the background.
