Now one needs a user account & for that an electronic ID set up for which you need a PIN. If you have no PIN there is no online procedure for getting one nor any information on-line as to how to get one. Digital on-line procedures are just a tool to fail to serve the public. #failingState

@heiseonline Mein Tipp: so wie die #eID wird auch die #Wallet kein Unternehmen anbinden und lieber eigene Dienste entwickeln, die dann zwar mehr Daten einsammeln als jenes Angebot, aber diese dafür einem Unternehmen gehören, an dessen Rendite man sich beteiligen kann. Erst heute konnte ich eine Identifizierung in einer VW-App machen. Statt einfach nur sich auf eID zu verlassen wurden lieber Fotos von meinem Perso und ein Videoselfie verlangt. Am Geld für die eID-Anbindung lag es sicher nicht.
Die Abstimmung über die #eID findet am 28. September statt. Versenken wir diese bedenkliche Vorlage ein zweites Mal!

WebAuthn is TOFU (there is a reason that phishing domain names such as
• mypasskey[.]info
• passkeysetup[.]com
exist). In WebAuthn a unique asymmetric key pair is bound to (part of the) domain name. AitM attacks are possible if an attacker illegitimately obtains a certificate for the domain name (examples can be found in https://infosec.exchange/@ErikvanStraten/112914050216821746).
EDIW is in no way comparable to WebAuthn, among other reasons because:
1) It's not even TOFU: it does not remember.
2) AFAIK EDIW "relying party authentication" is optional.

I hope people will understand the benefits of such a system and support it when voting. Unfortunately, a referendum (lead by anti-vax, etc) successfully collected 50k signatures against it.

The federal government will start issuing the e-ID in the swiyu wallet app in the third quarter of 2026 at the earliest. The Trust Infrastructure also allows other authorities and private individuals to issue electronic credentials.
My OpenPGP key is now attested by via the German federal ID card. At least that is something useful with the eID function, they introduced in 2010

Ok kids, I hope everyone is ready for tomorrow's protests, because when future generations ask what you did to fight the fascists, you don't want to say you hid at home while others stood up for your rights. Remember, this is a peaceful protest, but fascists aren't known for being peaceful. Please protest with friends, as there is safety in numbers. Wear long sleeves and eyeglasses or sunglasses - anything that will protect your skin and eyes in case the authorities decide to riot. I also recommend boots, especially steel-toed ones, in case you need to defend yourself. If things get heated, it's okay for you to leave if you feel unsafe; just be sure not to leave alone, as I said, there is safety in numbers. I hope we all have a good day tomorrow, and after the protest, maybe I will see you at the Eid celebration on Jones Street. Be safe, everyone!

It's still quiet outside. Due to Eid starting on Monday many people are off for most of the week - usually at this time traffic is busy at the circle not far from our house, not so today, especially schools, universities and government workplaces are closed. Tomorrow - I'm not sure. But in the evening many are going out, visiting, shopping (the children want to spend their Eid money, and many women, too).

We had Eid-ul-fitr yesterday, the second highest holiday in Islam. It should be a day full of joy. We tried to make it like that for the childrens sake - our children/grandchildren, who are healthy and for now, safe, alhamdulillah.
But what kind of Eid is this, when I have to see again many children wearing shrouds instead of new Eid clothes, because they are on their way to the graveyard? So many children only in the last two days. Not to speak of their parents and grandparents.
