Could this be a 'Karen' type or is it a case of 'domestic' ?

Friend's mom's in hospice. Friend is concerned that mom is dehydrated, sleeping a lot, and not eating a lot. What to do?

Answer: ensure your loved one is a) clean; b) safe; c) comfortable. Don't worry about the rest, just ensure water and food are available when wanted.

Sleeping a lot while not eating or drinking a lot is called the "transitional phase" right before the active dying phase.

Here's a video (9 min, from a hospice nurse): youtube.com/watch?v=nOLtcHtQZA

“Tanni Grey-Thompson has summed up the horror of the Labour government’s attitude to disabled people”

[Ex-Paralympic champion] “Tanni Grey-Thompson has said that the Labour Party’s planned cuts to Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits for chronically ill and disabled people could lead to some wanting to die under proposed assisted dying laws”

Yesterday I saw the German film Sterben (or Dying) at the cinema. It is a magnificent film. Likely the best of 2024 (it doesn't seemed to have been released in the US yet so, no Oscar nomination).

It is about family, friendship, love, art and death. The runtime is three hours long but it doesn't feel long.

The most surprising part was how funny the film was. Though sometimes it felt as if I was the only one who felt that way. There is a bit of Ingmar Bergman here, comparable to his best, but of course people often miss the jokes in his films as well.

The news cycle's dizzying. So something like this is helpful, even if I can't digest it all at once. The speed at which Our Putin is moving is shocking, but the Dems rolling over is devastating. NPR gives us in bullet points, day by day, this week's achievements in fascism.
