I'm heading to another town by train because I'm picking up reading glasses that I ordered in July (9 months ago), because it has taken this long for the following:

- PA availability (only 2 days per week)
- optician fitting appointment availability (with private side room (due to autism))
- trains not being out of action (I can't do cars or buses due to autistic sensory stuff)
- me having enough time and energy around other more urgent things (one million medical appointments mostly)
- not getting a spontaneous migraine or a bad pain day or insomnia that prevents me going on the day

So like for most people they'd be able to pick up their glasses two weeks after ordering, which is how long you have to wait for them to be ready to collect. With my various disabilities and chronic conditions it has taken 9 months.

EDS is weird.

Sometimes I have to use a wheelchair because of fatigue and to prevent tired hips from just popping out.

If my hip goes it's better to use crutches because wheelchairing with a subluxed hip is harder than supported walking.

But today, because my shoulder recently popped out, I can't use a wheelchair or crutches because I need to rest my shoulder.

So I look less disabled BECAUSE I can't use one of my arms. :D I have to wear my special sunflower lanyard to signal my disability because I don't have mobility aids with me.

William Donald (USouthampton) explains why cutting PIP payments is not the right way to 'encourage' the disabled into work.... and suggests a better approach:

reverse the PIP eligibility changes;

hold employers accountable for removing systemic barriers to work;

increase disabled representation in decision-making;

integrate health & social care;

pay carers better!

But of course, this would require a very different government would it not?

I seriously struggle with even "simple" math. Can't make change, have trouble reading analog clocks...forget maps & spatial things. Numbers are terrifying. Used to spend many homework hours screaming & hurling my textbook at the wall & sobbing over how stupid I was. I excelled at almost everything else, especially grammar, but math & numbers elude me to this day. I just cannot get them no matter how hard I try. I have to avoid them.

I saw this post & did not get it. While I have no sympathy for MAGAts, all the comments jeering about such stupidity...don't help for people like me who are just lousy with numbers. It doesn't mean we're idiots. We're just...idiots at math, I guess?

For what little it's worth I don't call people stupid for getting basic grammar wrong...

A few comments put it simply so I finally got it. Those well-meaning users were then jeered at for bothering to dumb down basic math. Sorry I'm a moron, I guess. #uspol #politics #disability

I’m looking for some advice from folks who have gone through university exams and the like.

I have an exam later in the day on Friday, during the time my mind and body usually require rest and I’m worried it will affect my performance. This is related to disability, so it’s not completely fixable or something the school can accommodate.

Any ideas on how I can try to keep my mind and body rested? I’m so tempted to study and review all day before, and I know I shouldn’t.

Help is welcome and appreciated. 🤓

Edit: I had to defer this exam due to a new infection/illness. Thanks to those who reached out to help! Hopefully my rescheduled exam will be earlier in the day.

I am reminding myself that I can do hard things! I can do hard things, even when the hard thing is waiting for an email about the one class I need to finish a degree. Will I have to do the whole damn degree again? I left due to #disability #discrimination, and I'd really like to just finish the class and not have to get a lawyer involved.

But I'm from New Jersey, so I absolutely WILL get a lawyer involved.

Anyway. I can do hard things!

I'ma eat first though.
